Kia Sorento India Launch: Expected Price, Specs, Powertrains & Everything We Know Early September 2026

Kia's biggest SUV bet in years lands in India on September 4, 2026 — the three-row Sorento, and this one's not just another model added to the lineup. The Sorento's been around the block already, sold across 130-plus countries with close to 4.8 million units moved worldwide, so it's not showing up here untested.

What's got people paying attention is that this looks like Kia's first strong-hybrid SUV for India, sitting above the Seltos and going straight after buyers who've been eyeing the Fortuner or Kodiaq. Bookings are already open ahead of the official reveal, so here's what's out there so far, confirmed and expected.

One thing to flag upfront: Kia hasn't put out official pricing, variant breakdowns, or a locked spec sheet yet. Everything below is pulled from pre-launch reports, teasers, and whatever Kia's confirmed on its own. Treat the numbers as expected until the September 4 reveal.

Kia Sorento Expected Price in India No variant-wise price list from Kia yet. Here's where different outlets are landing:

A few things worth knowing: Local assembly at Kia's Anantapur plant should keep pricing more reasonable than a fully imported SUV would Bookings are already open, even without official pricing Actual variant pricing only comes out at the reveal

This price range puts the Sorento up against the Fortuner, Kodiaq, Tayron, Majestor, and Meridian — not an easy crowd for a first India launch.

Kia Sorento Powertrain & Performance Two engines expected at launch, both new territory for Kia in India:

A few notes: This hybrid is Kia's first strong-hybrid SUV built for India AWD standard on the hybrid — not something you usually see at this price The diesel's borrowed from the Carnival, so it's already a known quantity Automatic only, no manual on either engine

Kia Sorento Size & Space Global spec puts the Sorento at over 4.8 metres long with a 2.8 metre wheelbase, and the India model should stay close to that.

Spec — Global Figure Length — Over 4,800 mm Wheelbase — Around 2,800 mm Boot Space (all rows up) — 179 litres Boot Space (rows folded) — Up to ~1,996 litres

Expected in both six-seat and seven-seat setups, so buyers get to pick based on family size.

Kia Sorento Cabin & Features Going by teasers and spy shots so far, here's what's likely in the India-spec cabin:

Dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and driver display Four-spoke wheel with the Kia badge sitting off-center Rotary drive selector on the center console Tall AC vents flanking the dash Leatherette seats with ventilation up front Panoramic sunroof Multi-zone climate control 360-degree camera Level 2 ADAS Kia's AI assistant, said to debut globally right here Powered tailgate

If most of this makes it to production, this cabin's going to feel a step above its price bracket.

Kia Sorento Launch Date & Bookings Launch Date: September 4, 2026 Bookings: Officially open, with dealer-level pre-bookings going back to July 2026 Production: Already running at Kia's Anantapur plant, Andhra Pradesh Where it sits: Kia's new flagship ICE SUV, above the Seltos

Protect Your New Kia Sorento with SUNKOOL Nano-Ceramic Window Film A three-row SUV this size comes with a lot of glass — big windows across three rows, plus a panoramic sunroof if it makes the India cut. More glass means more heat, glare, and UV working their way in, and on a family SUV, that usually hits the back seats hardest, where kids or elderly passengers tend to sit.

That's exactly where SUNKOOL's nano-ceramic film earns its spot, not as something tacked on at delivery, but as an actual part of looking after the car:

Blocks infrared heat right at the glass, not just a darker tint, so the cabin doesn't cook on long family drives UV rejection up to 99-100% depending on grade, keeping the leatherette and dash trim from taking sun damage No metallic layer, so GPS, the 360-camera, and ADAS sensors keep working the way they're supposed to Film grades from HD 70 up to SK 35, covering everything from light everyday protection to max heat rejection for road trips Installed properly, clean edges, real warranty backing — the kind of job a car in this price range deserves

With how much tech Kia's stuffing into this cabin, protecting both the interior and the sensor-loaded glass matters even more here than on a simpler SUV.

Final Take: Worth Waiting For? The Sorento looks like one of Kia's biggest India plays in a while — a real three-row hybrid with the space, tech, and AWD to go up against the Fortuner and Kodiaq directly. The strong-hybrid setup especially gives Kia something different in a segment that's mostly stuck on plain diesel and petrol.

That said, pricing and final specs aren't locked yet. If you're seriously considering one, it's worth waiting for the September 4 reveal before deciding anything.
