How does El Niño affect cars in India

El Niño usually brings a weaker monsoon, longer periods of heat and more dust. This can increase heat stress on your battery, coolant, air conditioning system and tires, as well as cause more sun damage to the paint and dashboard. Parked in the car, it can get really hot. The most affected region is generally Central India.

Most of the damage a hot year does to your car comes in through the glass and lands on the surfaces. Sunkool works on both.

Heat control film for the windows. Sunkool’s Heat Control Glazing is a multi-layer nano ceramic film. It cuts the heat and UV coming through the glass, so the cabin doesn’t turn into an oven when the car is parked, and the AC cools it down faster once you start driving. Less load on the AC also means less strain on the system during long hot spells.

Clear films that stay legal. You don’t need a dark tint to keep the heat out. Sunkool makes high visibility films, including 70 VLT options for the front glass and for the side and rear windows, so you get the heat cut without going below the legal limits and risking a challan.

Protection for your dashboard and seats. By blocking most UV rays, the film slows down the fading, drying and cracking that a long summer causes on the dashboard, seat fabric and leather. Since a cracked dashboard can only be replaced, this is where the film pays for itself.

Sunroof film. If your car has a sunroof, it’s one of the biggest sources of heat in the cabin. Sunkool has dedicated sunroof films to deal with it.

Choosing a range. Sunkool has two main ranges. The Foundation Series is a good fit for everyday hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs. The Signature Series is the higher end option for people who want the best heat rejection and clarity.

Buy from an authorised dealer. A good film fitted badly will bubble, peel or leave gaps. Get Sunkool installed at an authorised dealer, check that the film carries Sunkool’s product markings, and ask for the VLT number and warranty in writing. You can find your nearest dealer at sunkool.in.

Fit Sunkool heat control film on the windows, within the legal VLT limit.
